The Anthem
Anticipation is building as the official anthem for the League of Legends World Championship 2023 is set to be revealed on October 3rd. The song, titled “Gods”, is performed by the South Korean K-pop girl group NewJeans.
Who Are NewJeans?
Since their debut on July 22nd, 2022, the group consisting of MINJI, HANNI, DANIELLE, HAERIN, and HYEIN has been making waves in the music industry. NewJeans is the flagship group under the ADOR label, a subsidiary of HYBE, one of South Korea’s leading entertainment companies. With tracks like “Hype Boy” that held its place in the Billboard Global 200 Charts for 37 weeks, they’re setting new standards for female K-pop groups.
GODS – An Anthem for the Ages
Carrie Dunn, Global Head of Creative, Esports at Riot Games, spoke about the choice of the song: “’GODS’ combines epic and intense production elements with NewJeans’ beautiful and powerful vocals.” Fans can look forward to a music video which will be released on October 3rd at 10 PM Pacific Time. According to MEZ – Central European Time, this corresponds to October 4, at 07:00.
The music video will showcase familiar faces as well as new interpretations from the story of Diets, starting from 2013 up to his triumphant world championship win last year.
