Unconventional Tactics: Shake Things Up!

Use the Environment: Many players overlook the game environment. Use obstacles and terrains to your advantage.

Distractions: Sometimes, throwing her off with unexpected moves can break her rhythm.

Spezzy’s Secret Sauce: Advanced Tactics

Our expert gaming journalist, Spezzy, has seen the highs and lows of virtual battles. Through countless hours of gameplay, interviews with pro players, and combing through mountains of gamer feedback, Spezzy unveils some lesser-known strategies to gain an edge.

Understanding Nilah’s Behavior Patterns

Baiting Nilah: Trick her into making the first move, letting her reveal her auto attack nullification. Once that is gone, pounce on her.

Cooldown Timings: Track her ability usage.

Once she exhausts a powerful move, it might go on cooldown, giving you a small window to strike hard.

Adjust Your Gameplay Style

Defensive to Offensive: Start defensively to analyze her approach. As you identify her patterns, switch to a more aggressive stance.

Mobility Over Power: Sometimes, evading her attacks and maintaining distance can prove more beneficial than striking with all might.

The Power of Community Knowledge

Kindred is not an ADC, but she acts like one; the only difference is that she is in the jungle and not in bot lane. But there are still things you can do to counter her whenever she decides to gank or whenever you see her in the jungle.

She is an excellent marksman who has great burst potential and excels at extended fights. Today we will look at different playstyles to counter her with 5 of the best supports you can use against her. Let’s go!

Also read: Best Support Champions That Counter Kalista

1. Nautilus

One of Kindred’s counters is getting locked down and not kite enemies with her Q. Kindred is exceptionally squishy, so she relies on her mobility to keep her distance from enemies that can burst her down.

You can easily lock her down with Nautilus because of all of your CC Spells. With that said, let us look at the different playstyles on each phase of the game you should do to counter her.

Early Game Play Style

Play defensively and protect your ADC at all times. Put lots of vision in the enemy jungle and the river so you can anticipate Kindred’s ganks. She needs to gank often because of her passive stacks.

Once she ganks, you can either play defensively or aggressively. If your ADC is aggressive and has a strong follow-up on your CC, try to engage Kindred every time you see her. Your CC will be very long, so you don’t have to worry about her jumping around and shooting arrows.

Mid Game Play Style

Try to roam or invade the jungle along with your ADC and your jungler. An Oracle lens is your most valuable buy in this kind of playstyle because if Kindred wards her camps, she won’t be able to react to your invades.

Also, try to watch the minimap where Kindred’s passives pop on jungle camps. Once it pops on your side of the map, look to guard that location at all times to prevent her passive stacks.

Late Game Play Style

Once team fights erupt, look to engage Kindred first to use her ult to save most of her allies. When you see that some of her teammates start getting low, cast your ult on her and use all of your CC On her to prevent her from casting her ult.

2. Blitzcrank

Kindred is powerful when she is inside her ultimate. But the main counter on Kindred when using blitzcrank is that you can displace her from her ult. Your hook is an excellent counter on Kindred because you prevent her from free hitting your allies while she is inside her ult. It’s self-explanatory.

Early Game Play Style

Always try to hook and engage Kindred whenever you see her, she is pretty much very squishy in the early game, and she doesn’t have her ult to protect her yet. Once you hook her, it is pretty much a guarantee that you can kill her because she has meager defensive stats.

Mid Game Play Style

Doing a full combo on Kindred is enough to force her to use her ultimate early. But you can use your ult immediately to silence her and prevent her from casting her ultimate. This is great when you have an ADC that can deal burst damage.

Late Game Play Style

When team fights erupt, Kindred will try to stay in the middle of her team so she can rescue anyone with low HP. Try to keep her away from her team by using your hook and displacing her. You can also use your hook on champions she just saved with her ult to bring them out of Kindred’s ult and kill them.

3. Zac

Zac has lots of CC abilities that can displace enemies. His Q can be used to pull Kindred out of her ult or even his ult to knock enemies off of Kindred’s ult. Zac is also an excellent tank champion that can tank most of Kindred’s damage.

Early Game Play Style

You can be roaming support when facing Kindred. Try to ward the enemy jungle camp and scout on Kindred. Take a smite as your 2nd summoner spell and look to counter jungle her. When your ADC resets, try to roam and find kindred in her jungler.

Engage her with your E whenever you see her farming camps in places you put your ward to. Last hit her camps with your smite after engaging her with your E. This will significantly stop her from power farming gold and passive.

Mid Game Play Style

Kindred will most likely look for more ganks now, and you can react to it with your E. Your E will have a very long range now as it reaches its maximum level. Roam other lanes and help them whenever Kindred is ganking their lanes. Your damage and CC will prove too much for Kindred to handle, and she will most likely have no value for her gank.

Late Game Play Style

Once you see Kindred during team fights, you should prioritize your CC On her as her late-game damage can be insane because of her passive stacks. Only use your ult, however, if she casts her ult as well. Once you use your ult, you can knock her off of her ultimate and have your teammates finish her off.

4. Poppy

Poppy’s counter to Kindred is pretty simple. You use your ult to send her flying away from her ult so she can be killed. You can also use your E to get her out of her ult’s area of influence and kill her.

Early Game Play Style

Play aggressively, and every time Kindred comes for a gank, pin her on the wall and do your combos on her. This will most likely take away her jungling momentum and knock her off course.

Mid Game Play Style

Try to look for her in her jungler as you can see her passive in the minimap. Ward that point in the map and wait for her there as she will surely try to get that passive off of that jungle camp. Once she gets there, proceed to burst her down with your combos, and she won’t even be able to hop away with her Q because of your W.

Late Game Play Style

Always try to pin Kindred on the wall with your E stun and W combo. After you burst her down, she will try to cast her ult, and you can use your E or ult to bring her out of the circle. Just don’t charge your ult long enough to send her far away and save her instead.

Also read: Best Support Champions That Counter Ezreal

5. Alistar

Alistar is an excellent champion that can knock champions away with his headbutt. He also excels at staying beside enemy champions and tanking all their hits. He can stay beside Kindred and simply push her away from her ult every time she casts it.

Early Game Play Style

Alistar is an excellent engagement champion that has excellent CC abilities. He has a knock-up and a stun he can use to stop Kindred’s momentum and kite capabilities. Whenever Kindred tries to gank your lane, you can easily headbutt her away from your ADC and watch her walk away with no value at all.

Mid Game Play Style

Kindred is one of the best junglers that can tower dive because of the invulnerability that comes from her ultimate. Your best friend will be your headbutt when playing against Kindred. CC her as much as you can until your ADC brings her hp down.

Once she casts her ultimate, just headbutt her away from it towards your ADC, and she can easily be burst down because she is pretty squishy.

Late Game Play Style

Much like mid-game, just find the best time to headbutt her, and you’re good to go.

Questions:

Q. What Is A General Way To Counter Kindred?

A. Like all of the techs I have mentioned above, the best way to counter Kindred is to get her out of her ultimate’s area of influence.

Q. Kindred’s Late Game Is Op Along With Her Range. How Can I Counter This?

A. Play defensively until your team catches up with Kindred’s damage, then start finding takedowns on Kindred.

Final Thoughts

Kindred might spend her time as a jungler, but she is still a marksman who supports can easily counter. Just keep her away from her passive camps and you are good to go.

Kalista fell on the champion popularity this season. She doesn’t fit that much to the meta. But when she is picked, she is played by Kalista mains, who know what they are doing and can still demolish a game with her. Today we will look at 5 of the best support champions that can counter Kalista hard.

1. Veigar

Unconventional support but extensively works in bursting ADCs down with his full combo. Veigar can easily lock and burst Kalista down come late game, and his value won’t fall off even if he loses lane.

As a support, you will want to hit enemy champions with your spells often to stack your passive. Once Veigar catches Kalista with his stun, it is pretty much game over for her.

Early Game Play Style

You cannot do much in the laning phase but poke Kalista with your Q and W. When you see the right opportunity. You can use your E to cage Kalita and prevent her from running away from a gank. If she has no flash, then there is no way for her to escape your E stun, and all she can do is stand inside and await her eventual demise.

Mid Game Play Style

Veigar would have a high AP by now and can one-shot Kalista. Everfrost works great on Veigar because he can use it on Kalista if she doesn’t get stunned by the walls of Veigar’s E. It is also a great buy on veigar as it has a mythic passive that increases his AP.

During this phase of the game, try to play aggressively using your E. every time you stun Kalista, do a full combo on her so you can bring her HP down if it’s enough. Use your ult as well to finish her off.

Late Game Play Style

Veigar’s late game is rather funny because he can get the game every champion in the game. How much more for a squishy Kaisa that only has her leap as a means of dodging. Once Veigar’s E is stunned, it will be enough to finish her with just two of your spells.

2. Seraphine

A champion with low cooldown poke spells will surely annoy a Kalista player. Seraphine is a recent addition to leagues wide array of champions. She has excellent poke abilities that can double cast.

Her Q is an excellent damage ability that scales with missing health. Her crowd control is also insane as it has a long duration and range. Here are different play styles you can use when playing against Kalista.

Early Game Play Style

You can poke Kalista right off the bat with Seraphine, even at level one. Sera’s poke damage can be severe even at level one because she can double-cast without worrying about her mana that much. She also has a long-range that can beat Kalista’s at any moment.

Once you learn your E, it will be much easier to lane with Seraphine because you can be much more threatening now with the double cast of your E that can root Kalista. Play aggressively until you zone her away from minion range and gain a lead on her that you can lead to a snowball.

Mid Game Play Style

Sera will have even better crowd controls in the mid-game because she can use her ultimate now. With multiple double casts and roots, Seraphine can burst Kalista down to half health with her full combo, and her ADC can quickly finish Kalista off.

Kalista won’t react that much because she will most likely be fighting while stunned. Items like Crystal Scepter provide that provide slow are great as Seraphine doesn’t need to double cast her E anymore to root Kalista, and every time Kalista is slowed, there is not much she can do as she relies on speed to kill enemies.

Late Game Play Style

Look out for team fights and only use your full combo when team fights erupt. The value of your full combo is great because they are all AOE spells. Kalista won’t use her ult if she is taunted with your ult.

Once you lead with your ult and E double cast, surely their hp will be down to half, scepter provides and your teammates can easily follow up with a wombo combo and finish Kalista along with her entire team.

3. Lux

Kalista’s weakness is taking her mobility off, so a lux with a long-range Q root and an E slow followed up by a burst of damage is Kalista’s natural weakness. Lux also has great late-game burst potential, so once she catches Kalista with her Q, she can easily burst her down with an E + ult combo.

Also read: Elementalist Lux Combinations

Early Game Play Style

Lux has great CC and poke potential in the early game, your Q roots Kalista, and you can use this to zone Kalista away from the minion range. Just make sure to regulate your mana usage to avoid running out immediately. If Kalista is not playing with a hook champion, play aggressively with Lux with a hook champion around.

Mid Game Play Style

Always try to do your full combo whenever you catch Kalista with your Q, but only do so when your ADC is there to follow up. Your damage won’t be enough just yet to one-shot Kalista, so always have your ADC follow up on your combo.

Late Game Play Style

Like Veigar, Kalista will be like a minion to Lux in the late game with her insane burst damage. Once Kalista is rooted by your Q, you can simply do your combo on her and watch her HP bar get melted away.

4. Zilean

Zilean excels at slowing champions and pestering them with bombs every second. He also works great against Kalista as he can permanently remove her mobility because of his cooldown resets. Kalista’s Rend last hits would also be useless as Zilean can simply use his ult on his ally that has lots of Kalista spears.

Early Game Play Style

Start the game simply by using your bombs again and again on Kalista. This has a low mana cost, so you can use it again and again, especially if you have a mana flow band and presence of mind equipped.

Play defensively and aggressively at the same time, reserve your E to protect your ADC or to engage Kalista whenever a Jungler decides to gank your lane. It will also be a great counter to her mobility, along with the stun from your Q double cast.

Mid Game Play Style

Look to build an ever frost and items that provide ability haste so you can use your spells more often. With Everfrost and a glacial augment rune, you can constantly slow Kalista down, and this will take her momentum away.

Once you use your Everfrost on her, she will be slowed for a very long time thanks to Glacial augment. Add the effects of your E and the stun of your Q, and Kalista should give up on moving at all. Always use your CC on her, and you can quickly shut her off the game with this tech.

Late Game Play Style

Zilean will have lots of ability haste when the late game comes, and he can move pretty fast on the map. Abuse your E-speed-ups to hit Kalista with your Q poke every time you see her. Once you catch her off guard, you can stun her and follow it up with an ever frost cast. I don’t know what else she can do to avoid getting killed by getting Perma slowed.

5. Morgana

It will be a hit or miss with this champion because a good Kalista player will know how to dodge a Morgana Q. But when Morgana Hits Kalista with her bind, there is not much that Kalista can do.

Her ult won’t work either, as Morgana can simply cast a black shield on her or her ADC to prevent getting knocked up. Also, every league player knows how long Morgana’s root is, and every time the champion is hit with this. It’s pretty much grey screen time.

Early Game Play Style

Position yourself where you gain control over the bushes in the bot lane. You need this because it will be hard to dodge it if you are hidden while casting your Q. After all, you cannot anticipate it.

Play defensively first so you can reach your power spike as a mage, but walk up to Kalista whenever your Jungler decides to gank and secure the kill by guaranteeing your Q hit on Kalista.

Mid Game Play Style

You can build like a mage with Morgana and there will be no problem, you will still be a great support. Morg’s skill set has many utilities, and building like a mage is also great. When you have your Liandry’s, you can quickly kill Kalista with just your Q + W combo.

You can play aggressively, lead with your black shield and walk up to a Kalista and do your full combo on her. Make sure you have a stopwatch or an hourglass every time you engage her, so you don’t suffer her 1v1 damage.

Late Game Play Style

Morgana is a boss champion when it comes to late games. She can quickly flash in the middle of the enemy team and use her ult and hourglass to stun all of them for 3 seconds. Once she comes of stasis, she can focus on Kalista’s spells to either kill her or lock her down to be finished by Morg’s teammates.

Questions:

Q. Should I always prioritize CC and slow on Kalista and ignore peeling my ADC?

A. Of course, you should always think about protecting your ADC even if you have the lead against the enemy bot lane duo. Sometimes even champions with leads get killed if they make mistakes against the enemy.

Q. What is the best item to counter Kalista that can be built on most champions mentioned above?

A. That would be Everfrost. Most of the support champions you will be picking are mage poke supports. Everfrost also takes away Kalista’s movement, so she will be very susceptible to bursts and gank, making her extremely easy to kill.

Final Thoughts

It is rare to see a Kalista this season but when you see one, always try to counter her because chances are a Kalista one trick is playing her.

Graves started as an ADC during the early seasons of League of Legends. He has a targeted basic attack, and his skills are way different than what he does now. After getting reworked, Graves fell off of being an ADC and became a jungler instead because of his updated kit. Now he fires four bullets that push non-champion enemies when he hits them.

He sends six bullets instead when he crits, and his basic attacks radius becomes wider. Bullets also stop at the first enemy hit. That is why one of the best counters to graves is simply standing behind a minion and letting the minion take the hit for you.

If only it were that simple, Graves’ damage is insanely high that he mostly one-shots a minion. His Q also has two damage instances, one where it passes you and deals mediocre damage and the empowered one that comes back when it hits a wall or spends a second to recast.

Graves also has a dash ability that gives him defensive stats the more he uses it and stacks it, with engagement every damage and incredible survivability and mobility. He is like an assassin and a bruiser mixed into one crazy champion. With all of that in mind, let us take a look at the best support champions you can use to counter this monster.

1. Poppy

Poppy is a great champion that you can use to lock extremely mobile champions down in one place. You pick her against Graves and watch as you destroy him in his jungle, even if you are just supporting. Poppy is an excellent roam champion, primarily when building a deadman’s plate.

With this pick, you can communicate with your jungler and initiate counter junglers to dampen Grave’s progress. He is a champion that focuses on power farming to gain late-game damage. Now let’s take a look at the different phases of the game and how you can counter graves, be it in the jungle or as an ADC.

Early Game Play Style

If Graves is in the jungle, you cannot do much to counter Graves but to counter jungle him. Coordinate with your jungler and have your ADC push fast so you can roam around the jungle and find Graves to score a takedown.

Mid Game And Item Build

A great way to counter Graves is to beat him in movement speed and position yourself well, so he doesn’t reach you with his skills and basic attacks. Poppy can do just that with Deadman’s plate. With this item, she can run Graves down along with her W’s active. Once you see Graves, immediately pin him against the wall and use your basic combo on him. Once his stun is about to expire, activate your W so he can’t flash or use his dash. Once locked down, you can chain CC him and easily let your adc finish him.

Late Game Play Style

Graves is solid in the late game, especially if he manages to power farm during the early phases of the game. You can easily counter his damage with Poppy by sending him away with your ultimate. However, if he comes back or you miss your ultimate, a simple CC chain against the wall is enough to keep him from killing your teammates. Poppy is one of Graves’ weaknesses in the game.

What If Questions:

  • What if Graves builds crit items?
    • As Poppy, you should look to build a Randuin’s Omen as it dampens the damage of critical strikes. It is also another fantastic item to counter Graves’ as it slows him down after you engage him with your combos.
  • What if Graves decides to camp bot lane?
    • Providing vision on the river is a great way to counter Graves when he decides to camp bot and flank you all the time. Also, talk to your ADC and ask her to control the wave to stay near your tower. This will prevent a flank from coming from Gangplank.

2. Janna

When Graves fights, he depends on his momentum as he dashes around you and builds his defensive stats up. Nothing ruins momentum better than Janna. Her tornadoes can be quickly cast to deny a mobile champion immediately.

She also has a slow she can frequently cast on Graves, and her shield is excellent to counter Graves’ damage and give her ADC a damage boost to help deal with Graves. Janna’s ultimate is also great to keep Graves away from her ADC. Graves has a very short attack range, so a Janna with all her skills can easily keep Graves from harming any of her teammates.

Early Game Play Style

Graves’ ganks depend on flanks in the early game as he doesn’t have a Galeforce to do a frontal engage yet. So basically, you want to plant vision on the river or the tri brush to prevent early ganks from Graves.

But if he manages to slip past your vision defense, you can simply shield your ADC and use an immediate Q on Graves and watch as he walks back to his jungle, gaining no value for his gank.

Mid Game Play Style And Item Build

Keep your ADC safe at all times by staying behind her back throughout the game. Once you see Graves start his assault, start channeling your Q and aim it towards him. If you manage to hit him, he will be airborne for a good one to two seconds, and this is enough time to ruin his momentum and bring his grit stacks down.

You should also build an Everfrost if the Graves you are facing love to be in melee range. This way, you can lock him down even further.

Late Game Play Style

Much like the mid-game, the only difference is that you’re going to have a better ability to haste and use your tornado on Graves every time it comes off cooldown. Countering his mobility is enough to shut him out of the game. Who knew that a mere windy lady is an excellent counter to one badass champion.

What If Questions:

  • What if Graves decides to focus on me and one-shot me all the time as Janna
    • Look to play defensively and counter him using great vision placement. If you see your enemy coming, it gives you enough time to think of a counter. Plus, if you regroup with your team most of the time, Graves won’t be able to hunt you down.
  • What if we are losing and Graves is carrying his team
    • Focus your CC on him and look to rush an Everfrost to extend your CC on him. Also, try to build items with the ability haste as it allows you to cast your Q more often. Janna doesn’t need damage to counter Graves. She just needs to hit Graves with her Q often so he won’t kite her teammates.

3. Alistar

Alistar is an excellent engage champion with outstanding peeling capabilities. His headbutt pulverize combo is one of League’s most classic engage combos. Alistar is also a tank champion which means even if he engages Graves, he won’t suffer from Graves’ damage.

He can keep Graves from running away by staying beside him most of the time. Alistar can also keep Graves from getting near his ADC, so there is not much Graves can do with this pick.

Early Game Play Style

Play defensively in the early game, especially if your ADC is a late-game champion. Every time Graves tries to CS canon minions (as an ADC) or flank your ADC, simply headbutt him away. If he decides to come back right after your headbutt, just pulverize him and stun him with your E ability. This will be enough for your ADC to apply a bit of damage to cause Graves to run away.

Mid Game Play Style And Item Build

Build boots of mobility, so you have the movement speed to roam other lanes wherever Graves is ganking. Have your ADC control the wave as he will be playing weakside. Turbo Chemtank is another excellent item you can build on Alistar as it allows you to chase Graves most of the time, and it also has a slow effect.

Late Game Play Style

The late-game sees through Alistar’s knock-ups that he can easily invade the ranks of their enemies because of his ultimate. If you manage to knock all of your opponents up, look to focus on Graves, as he is one champion that can deal burst AOE damage to your team. Headbutt him away whenever you see him winding up for a kill.

What If Questions:

  • What if Graves ignores our lane and decides to the camp top or mid
    • You can ask your ADC to stay safe in bot lane and play weak side as you roam and counter gank Graves. You will need mobility boots for this and a Frozen heart, so you don’t fall behind in value even if you only have one item.

4. Thresh

Thresh’s ultimate is an excellent counter to Graves because he relies so much on his dashes. Once Thresh catches Graves with his hook, he can quickly shut Graves’ moment down by doing a hook flay + ult combo on him.

This would significantly limit Graves’ mobility for a good 3-5 seconds. Graves will be exposed to your teammates when this happens, and you know what happens next.

Early Game Play Style

You can play aggressively with Thresh in the early game. You can counter jungler Graves along with your jungler. Once you reach level 2, a hook and a flay are enough to CC him down. This tactic can lead to a takedown or a flash burn on Graves.

Mid Game Play Style And Item Build

Zeke’s Herald is a great item counter on Graves because it extends the duration of your CC to Graves. Thresh has an excellent CC chain he can use on Graves to stun him for more than 3 seconds.

His ultimate also slows Graves and when he casts his ultimate, he will proc the slow effect of Zeke’s making Graves move even slower which makes it easier for your ADC to hit him.

Late Game Play Style

Graves will gain incredible damage in the late game no matter what happened in the early game, so try to play defensively and protect your ADC at all costs. If Graves comes to get your ADC, just flay him away or use your ult to block his path. Keeping Graves away from hitting your teammates with his basic attack is a great way to counter him.

5. Amumu

Amumu stomps Graves in any possible situation. He can easily engage Graves with his Q, and with Amumu’s recent update, you can lock him down even longer because it now has two charges.

Amumu is also a tanky champion with a passive that reduces the damage of basic attacks he receives. Also, once he catches Graves with his Q, it will be impossible for Graves to retaliate as he will spend most of his 5 seconds standing and being stunned. Now let us look at the different phases of the game on how to counter Graves with amumu.

Early Game Play Style

Immediately, Amumu can counter Graves even in the jungle. Have your teammates come with you and invade Graves’ camps. Once you catch him with your stun, have your team follow up on damage. Don’t worry, though, if he flashes away. You still have your 2nd Q to stun and engage him again. This is an easy tactic to shut Graves down in the early game.

Mid Game Play Style And Item Build

Continue doing your basic engages on Graves, only this time, you should build an Everforst to make your stuns even longer. Plant vision on his camps so you can keep track of him and kill him whenever your jungler is near you.

Late Game Play Style

If he manages to snowball in the late game, don’t worry, as all you have to do is wait for him to engage your allies with his dash. Once he uses his dash, he will have no means of sidestepping your Q engage. A series of crowd controls can follow that up.

Final Thoughts

Graves is a very mobile champion that relies on his E to get around and kite your carries. Taking his mobility away from him doesn’t only remove his kill pressure. It also takes his means of protection away, making him vulnerable to bursts. An excellent gameplay.

Ezreal usually is a demanding champion to catch because of his E ability. Still, he is an easy champion to counter. Just pick champions with a point and click abilities. He still receives the skill’s effect no matter what sidestepping he does.

Avoid hook-based champions like Blitzcrank or Thresh as Ezreal can quickly get away with his E. He can use it right before you catch or after you hook him already. Burst champions that can kill squishy champions in one go are great ways to counter Ezreal.

Champions with lots of gap closers are also great against him even after he uses his E. With all that in mind, let us look at the champions that can easily counter Ezreal.

Also read: Best Support Champions That Counter Caitlyn

1. Sett

A Sett is an excellent support champion, especially when he has the hex flash rune. The problem with Ezreal is that he has his E ability that works as a low cooldown flash, and it also has a follow-damage to top it all off.

Sett can easily catch Ezreal by surprise by trading flashes in the early game. Sett doesn’t lose value on his flash use because he can use it repeatedly. Ezreal won’t run away from Sett as he has the ult. He closes the gap between him and Ezreal.

Early Game Play Style

Sett can do a cheese strategy by immediately fighting Ezreal with his W learned. Trade hits with Ezreal and just as your passive becomes full, use your W. Use your flash, so he forcefully uses his flash as well.

After he uses his flash, back away, either reset or regen using your pots. This way, you take away his flash. You can take the jump on him whenever you are hiding in the bush and use hex flash to stun him with your E. He might be able to get away using his E. Still, the damage you can do to him after your simple combo is already a great trade.

Mid Game Play Style And Item Build

A Turbo Chemtank will always be a great buy on Sett as support because even if Ez manages to get away using his E, Sett can still catch up to him using Turbochemtank along with his Q.

Ezreal’s mid-game damage is not that impressive, so you can easily engage him every time your ADC is with you. A Sett is also an excellent bruiser carry, so you can easily take the fight to Ezreal whenever you see him.

Late Game Play Style

Look for their tankiest ally during team fights and cast your ult on that champion. Just make sure that the direction where you slam that champion is towards Ezreal. Right after you slam the enemy’s tank, use your E To stun Ezreal and have your team finish him off.

2. Braum

Ezreal’s skills are skillshots, so champions who can negate projectiles are great champions against him. Braum has a skill where he raises his shield, negating all projectiles that it touches. It also reduces Braum damage so he can easily catch all of Ezreal’s skillshots and have no problem with it.

It even stops Ezreal’s ult from going even further so Braum can use this skill to protect his teammates. Braum also has a dash he can cast on his allies even if his shield is up.

Early Game Play Style

You should start with your shield so you can protect your ADC whenever Ezreal decides to poke with his Q. Braum can also pick the Guardian rune and always stay beside his ADC so he can mitigate Ezreal’s damage.

Once you learn your Q and W, have your ADC follow up on the stack you put on EZ every time you hit him with your Q, stand in front of your ADC if you engage Ezreal as his basic attacks won’t be able to reach your ADC once your shield is up.

Mid Game Play Style And Item Build

A Locket of the Iron Solari is an excellent buy on Brand as it gives his allies bonus defensive stats all the time. He can also activate it if Ezreal decides to go all-in and slip past your defenses.

If Ezreal does this, cast your ultimate on him along with your Q. If he uses his E to get closer to your ADC, dash back to your ADC and raise your shield. Cast your ult, and this will be the death of a greedy Ezreal.

Late Game Play Style

Braum becomes tanky in the late game to take the frontline with his big shield. When Ezreal uses his Q spam, just raise your shield and take all of it. Stand in front of your team as well when team fights erupt so you can block Ezreal’s ultimate.

3. Soraka

Soraka can quickly heal his ADC every time Ezreal hits his Q. They both have low cooldowns on these skills, so Ezreal would likely give up on poking with his Q in the early game as you can quickly heal it back.

Just make sure you hit a champion with your Q every time you heal your allies so you can bring your HP back up.

Early Game Play Style

Start with your Q and W so you can immediately counter Ezreal’s poke damage. Just make sure that you are always behind the minions because you can be the one he will target with his pokes, and it will be hard to heal your HP back up.

Mid Game Play Style And Item Build

Ardent Censer Counters Ezreal simply because it strengthens your heals meaning his pokes can be dealt with by your heals. If Ezreal hits your entire team with his ult during a mid-game team fight? You can quickly heal them all back up with your ultimate.

Late Game Play Style

Build a moonstone renewer on Soraka so you can heal every champion in your team with ease. Once you hit multiple enemies with your Q or E, all of your allies can heal from them. You basically shut Ezreal’s poke damage off with all the heals you provide.

4. Pantheon

Pantheon is an incredible engage champion who can one-shot enemy ADCs once he catches them with his stun and PTA combo. Pantheon can easily engage Ezreal with a quick combo and receive no damage in return. He can also finish Ezreal even if he manages to get away using his E. Pantheon’s empowered Q is enough to one-shot an Ezreal with a quarter HP bar.

Early Game Playstyle

Start with your Q, as you can use this to match Ezreal’s poke. Once you reach level 3 however, is the main counter to Ezreal. You can engage him again and again upon reaching this power spike. If he decides to retaliate with a W + Q combo, you can easily block it by using your E which negates all damage Pantheon receives from the front.

Mid Game Play Style

Look to roam other lanes or help you at least. However, make sure your ADC can play the weak side so you can do this Ezreal counter.

Late Game Play Style

Suppose Ezreal falls behind in the early game. In that case, you can build a complete lethality one-shot Pantheon. Otherwise, your tanky items so you can be a Vanguard and protect your teammates at Ezreal’s pokes.

5. Senna

Senna can be used either as ADC or support. Still, when she is supported eventually becomes more potent than her ADC. She scales harder if she is played as a support as her passive can proc a lot faster than when she is played as an ADC.

Her Basic attack and Q combo alone are devastating even in the early game. She can take the Grasp of the Undying rune to poke Ezreal with her hits or her Q.

Early Game Play Style

In the early game, Senna can match Ezreal’s poke by doing a quick basic attack + Q combo. She also has a long-range E that can CC Ezreal in place so Senna and her ADC can burst Ezreal down.

Mid Game Play Style And Item Build

Any Sheenbased mid-game is a great mid game item on Senna as it empowers her poke potential. Try to engage Ezreal every time you catch him with your E. If he decides to cast his ult, cast your ultimate immediately as well as it damages Ezreal and shields your allies.

Late Game Play Style

In the late game, Senna’s primary power is extreme, and you can easily one-shot Ezreal with your quick combo. You can also match his range and your Range, which is increased once your stack is high.

Final Thoughts

Ezreal won’t be much of a problem if you have enough targeted spells. Once you CC or burst him down, he is pretty much useless.

Caitlyn is a pretty solid ADC with her long-range. It might be challenging to reach her and secure a takedown on her. But killing a champion is not the only way to counter her. You counter her by negating her chances of getting stronger as the game progresses.

Countering a champion is making that champion useless and making that champion’s value fall off as the game goes on. There are lots of champions and strategies out there to counter ADCs, but I will show you in this article you’ll see the 5 best support champions you can use to render Caitlyn useless.

Also read: How To Play Against Poppy?

1. Braum

Caitlyn is a great champion that takes her enemies out from a long-range, either from her Q or her ultimate, but what happens if Caitlyn’s projectiles get blocked? SImple, she won’t be able to secure kills on enemies that manage to get away. Her ult can be easily blocked by Braum’s shield along with her Q.

Every time Caitlyn plants a trap, Brand can simply step on them and bring his shield up, This would greatly reduce the damage that Braum receives. He can be a minesweeper of Caitlyn’s traps and he won’t be punished by Cait’s damage.

Early Game Playstyle

Try to play as safe as possible, and have your ADC power farm so she can follow up on your engage in the mid game. Whenever Caitlyn decides to poke using her Q, you can stand in front of it and negate it with your shield. If you are far from your ADC you can use your dash to immediately get close to her and bring your shield up.

Mid Game Playstyle And Item Build

With Caitlyn not being able to kill your ADC, the game would be straightforward, both Cait and your ADC have the same strength. Your advantage comes from Braum’s engage. Once you hit Caitlyn with your Q, have your ADC follow up and stun Caitlyn.

As your ADC walks up to Cait, put your shields up so Cait’s basic attacks won’t reach your ADC along with her Q. You can cast your ultimate on her as well to knock her up and slow her afterward. A bramble vest that leads to a Thornmail is a great item you can build on Braum as you can greatly mitigate Cait’s damage in the mid game.

Late Game Playstyle

You can basically zone Caitlyn out of every team fight with your Q and ultimate. If she manages to position herself well enough to hit your carries. Stand in front of her and put your shields up to negate all of her projectiles.

2. Xerath

Xerath easily bullies Caitlyn out of minion range with a barrage of spells. Xerath’s burst damage is incredible all throughout the game. He also has a way to restore his mana so you don’t have to worry about running out.

A quick combo from Xerath is enough to bring Caitlyn down. Xerath can also pick her apart from her team with his ultimate which cannot really be blocked.

Early Game Play Style

Have Xerath poke Caitlyn continuously with his Q, make sure that your passive is up every time you cast your Q so you don’t run out of mana. You can hide in bushes or the fog of war every time you wind up your Q. Cast it behind the shadows so Caitlyn doesn’t have any means of predicting your Q and sidestepping it.

You can also bait her by stepping into her traps, this would guarantee that Caitlyn will walk towards you to hit you and you can retaliate by stunning her and landing your basic combo on her. This is a great trade but a risky one.

Mid Game Playstyle And Item Builds

Luden’s Tempest is a great item on Xerath simply because of the mana boost it gives him. The bonus AOE damage also makes him deal more damage to Caitlyn. The speed boost would also help him position himself better every time he wishes to burst Caitlyn down.

Continue pestering Caitlyn from a long-range. This is an easy match-up because you can easily outrange her and beat her damage. As a support, your ADC can use this to his advantage by power farming and beating Caitlyn in CS.

Late Game Playstyle

Play hyper-aggressive against Caitlyn in the late game and do not give her a breathing room. Keep putting pressure on her by constantly targeting her with your spells. Do this until she gets tilted and blames her teammates for not protecting her. (https://skinnyninjamom.com) If you manage to piss her off, you basically put her out of the game.

3. Zac

Zac is an incredible engage support that nobody really knows of. He is commonly played in the jungle without realizing that he can have great value as an engage support. One great tactic to counter Caitlyn is to CC her for the entire duration of the fight.

Zac can do this every time there is a team fight as he can easily jump on Caitlyn even when she is at the backline. Zack support can either build tank or mage items, either way, it will be easy for him to kill Caitlyn.

Early Game Playstyle

Always hide in the bush or in the alcove as Zac to constantly threaten Caitlyn from being jumped at. Be careful however as your engages won’t be strong in the early game as she can easily keep her distance by using her E.

A wrong engage can easily be your undoing and cost you the game. Play safe and wait for your ADC to reach his early game power spike before engaging.

Mid Game Playstyle And Item Build

Tank items basically counter Caitlyn, and a Zac with a Randuin’s Omen is pretty scary for Caitlyn. Not only does it reduce crit damage, but it also reduces attack speed preventing Caitlyn from dealing further damage per second.

You can now engage her with your full combo and you can take her out on your own with your damage and tankiness. Sunfire Cape will help you so much in killing her.

Late Game Playstyle

Late games are usually focused on teamfights or split pushing carries. Whenever you see Caitlyn split pushing, you can kill her by yourself or have your ADC come with you so they can have the kill.

During teamfights however, it will be much riskier for you if you try to engage Caitlyn, so a Stoneplate is a great buy for the late game. You can zone her away by engaging her from the backline, this will prevent her from killing your carries from a long-range

4. Blitzcrank

Blitzcrank can easily hook Caitlyn as she doesn’t have that much mobility, all she does is walk and push herself away from danger with her E. Her E is not instantaneous so it will not really be a problem for you. You can easily pick her off in the late game during team fight setups by focusing your hook on her.

You can also step on her traps as bait, once she walks up she basically gets in range of your hook so you can easily grab her. Your ult also breaks shields, so even if her support gives her a shield, you can easily break it

Early Game Playstyle

Have your hook ready every time you face a Caitlyn in the early game. One perfect hook on her in the early game guarantees that both of her Summoner’s Spells are burnt or better yet, you can guarantee a takedown on her.

Mid Game Playstyle And Item Build

Once you reach mid game, you would have already learned all of your skills. You can easily walk up to her with your W and she will react with an E, once she casts her E she is very vulnerable and gets easily hooked.

You can coordinate with your jungler and set up flanks or you can basically fast push their lane and hook her every time the opportunity presents itself. Blitz’s burst is so strong and it can easily bring Cait’s HP down so your ADC can easily pick her off.

Late Game Playstyle

Play very defensively and try to peel for your ADC, but every time you see Caitlyn within hook range, try to hook her into your team’s range. Once caught she won’t be able to react and get easily burst down

5. Leona

Just like what I mentioned above, Caitlyn is always vulnerable to support champions that have great engage abilities. Leona is one of the best engage champions in the game and her CC is second to none. She is the champion with the most CC abilities in the game making her the perfect pick against Caitlyn.

Once Leona engages Caitlyn, all she can do is cast her E but it won’t be enough to get away from a full engage Leona. Once caught by Leona’s ult, Caitlyn will be locked down for a good 5 or more seconds. This will provide enough time for Leona’s team to burst her down.

Early Game Playstyle

The best way to mitigate Caitlyn’s damage in the early game is to learn W on Leona. You can’t engage her yet as your CC abilities are still mediocre. But if your ADC is a great all-in early game ADC, you can go and engage Caitlyn even in the early game.

If you see her walking up to you, use your W immediately to reduce the damage you take and immediately engage her with your E and stun. If you have great engage ADCs like Tristana or Lucian, this will be a great early game tactic to counter Caitlyn’s long-range.

Mid Game Playstyle And Item Build

Once you reach mid game, make sure you build Zeke’s Convergence on Leona as she needs to slow Caitlyn whenever her CC spells are down. This also gives your ADC bonus magic damage to help take Caitlyn down faster.

Late Game Playstyle

Use your ult exclusively for Cait in the late game, even if she is in the middle of her team, focus your solar flare on her. Once caught, you can go in and use your E on her but only do this if your team has a lead and can follow up on your CC engages.

Final Thoughts

Caitlyn has an extremely long range so you’re gonna have to pick champions that have great engages or a gap closer. Keep in mind that once you manage to get close to Caitlyn and CC her, there is not much she can do. So try to pick champions like the ones I have mentioned above.

Thank you so much for reading my content, and I hope you enjoyed it as I invest time and effort in making these articles. I hope this article helps you in your future games summoner, GLHF, and see you on the rift.

Poppy is a tank top laner, but she can be played as a bruiser in the jungle. She has decent clear, damage output from abilities, and she can duel anyone near the walls.  Poppy has a kit that can provide so much utility and is good at ganking and counter ganking.  Heroic Charge (E) can stun an enemy for up to 2 seconds.

Steadfast Presence (W) is for gap closing and blocking dashes. Poppy’s ability Keeper’s Verdict (R) allows her to kick out an enemy or even multiple enemies out of the fight, so if they have a carry, she can just use  Keeper’s Verdict (R) to kick him out and turn the team fight into four vs five.

Poppy’s Abilities

Poppy’s kit is based mainly on gap-closing, damage, and tanky abilities. To better understand how to avoid mistakes when dealing with her, you have to study her abilities closely.

  • Passive – Iron Ambassador: Periodically, Poppy throws her buckler as her next basic attack, gaining 350 bonus range and dealing 20 − 180 (based on level) bonus magic damage. The buckler then falls near the target after hitting, landing on the ground after 1 second, where it remains for up to 4 seconds. When Poppy picks up the buckler, she shields herself for 15 / 17.5 / 20% (based on level) of her maximum health for 3 seconds. If the buckler kills its target, it bounces back to Poppy automatically. Enemy champions can step on the buckler to destroy it.
  • Q – Hammer Shock: Poppy smashes the ground in front of her in the target direction, dealing physical damage to all enemies struck within. Against monsters, the damage based on their maximum health is capped. The impacted ground then becomes unstable, slowing enemies within before erupting after 1 second, dealing the same physical damage to all enemies inside.
  • W – Steadfast Presence Passive: Poppy’s total armor and total magic resistance are both increased by 10%, doubled to 20% when she falls below 40% maximum health.
  • W – Steadfast Presence Active: Poppy gains 40% bonus movement speed for 2 seconds and generates an aura around herself for the duration, causing all enemies who attempt to dash into or within it to be dealt magic damage, knocked up for 0.5 seconds and, if they were successfully interrupted, grounded and slowed by 25% for 2 seconds. Steadfast Presence (W) can only block a single dash per enemy per cast.
  • E – Heroic Charge: Poppy dashes to the target enemy’s location and, if they are in range upon arrival, she deals them physical damage and carries them along with her for up to 400 units. If the target collides with terrain, she deals them the same physical damage again and stuns them for a duration. Heroic Charge can traverse terrain, provided that the target is within range.
  • R – Keeper’s Verdict: Poppy charges while being slowed by 15% for up to 4 seconds to increase Keeper’s Verdict’s range and knockback distance over 0.5 seconds after the first 0.5 seconds of the channel. Keeper’s Verdict can be recast at any time within its duration. Poppy releases the charge with a 0.25 seconds cast time, launching her hammer upwards to deal physical damage to all enemies in a radius around her and in an area in front of her and knocking them up for 0.75 seconds. If Poppy charged for at least 0.5 seconds, she smashes the ground, causing Keeper’s Verdict to deal increased damage and knockback its targets a massive distance towards the enemy team’s fountain. If no enemies are within the uncharged hitbox, the slam creates a shockwave instead that travels in the target direction until it collides with an enemy champion, causing a hammer to erupt. Enemies hit by the shockwave or the hammer’s eruption receive the empowered effect. If Poppy is interrupted during the charge, or the charge completes without reactivation, Keeper’s Verdict is canceled, and the ability is put on a 30-second cooldown. Enemies knocked airborne are revealed and are rendered untargetable while being displaced if Poppy charged Keeper’s Verdict for more than 0.5 seconds.

Countering Poppy’s Spells

The easiest way to counter her Passive is to wait for her to use it for the last hitting. Avoid diving a Poppy early due to her passive making her surprisingly tanky. Her Hammer Shock (Q) is easy to dodge if you are not already stunned. If you happen to have a dash ability, be ready that Poppy’s Steadfast Presence (W) can surprisingly lock you down.

She will often use her Steadfast Presence (W) as a gap closer because of the increased movement speed she gets from it, so you might not have to worry about it. Don’t be next to a wall when fighting with a Poppy, as her Heroic Charge (E) will stun you.

Try always to be away from any wall if you know that it is not on CD. Save a disable for when she starts channeling her Keeper’s Verdict (R); otherwise, she will send you and your teammates far away.

Most Common Poppy Combos

Her usual combo ganking the lane looks like this W > E > Q > AA. This one is a basic combo that stuns you if you happen to be near the wall. After level 6, Poppy will use the same combo but add R to prolong the duration of CC like this W > E > Q > R > AA.

Poppy’s Weaknesses

1. CC

If she overextends with her Heroic Charge (E), she can be killed easily. You can stun her when she puts herself in an inconvenient position.

2. Range

Poppy is a melee range champion, and with this weakness, you can safely poke or kite her easily.

3. Clearing

Poppy does not have great jungle clear or lane pushing potential. She will try to gank overextended lanes or roam and help other lanes.

The Best Poppy Lane Counters In Season 12

1. Rek’Sai

Rek’Sai is hard to learn and has more complex mechanics that need to be mastered to gank efficiently. With the gold difference of +610 gold at the 15th-minute mark, Rek’Sai is the champion that is a strong pick against Poppy.

Rek’Sai has creative ganking routes that can allow her to dodge commonly placed warding spots. Her Ultimate Void Rush (R) will allow her to deal a lot of damage, and this will let her assassinate and blow up enemy squishies.

2. Hecarim

Hecarim is easy to learn, doesn’t have skill shots, and has simple mechanics. With the gold difference of +580 gold at the 15th-minute mark, Hecarim is the champion that is an ideal pick against Poppy. He is a solid early game duelist, and his R allows him to engage efficiently. Hecarim is still tangible in the current meta and overall very easy to learn.

Honorable Mention: Nocturne

Nocturne has the highest win rate against Poppy in season 12, even though he is not as popular as the other two champions, as mentioned above. With the gold difference of +570 gold at the 15th-minute mark, he is straightforward to play well, and his abilities help him duel Poppy very well.

His Shroud of Darkness (W) counters Poppy to engage with her Heroic Charge (E) very well. Nocturne can use his Paranoia (R) to pick enemy squishies off.

The Best Champions To Counter Poppy In Season 12

1. Garen

As a top laner, his Passive allows him to stay in the lane even after taking a lot of poke damage. His Judgment (E) will enable him to do tons of damage in a 1v1 situation because the damage increases if the enemy is alone.

He is also quite tanky thanks to his Courage (W) ability. He can silence Poppy with his Decisive Strike (Q) while channeling her Keeper’s Verdict (R).

2. Anivia

In the mid-lane, we have Anivia, who has one of the strongest Passives in the game. It can prevent her from dying, which offers her tons of extra protection throughout the game.

Thanks to your Wall Crystallize (W), Anivia has a lot of utility that can protect her and her allies. It can also increase her chances of surviving in fights as she can block Poppy from engaging. Her Flash Frost (Q) allows her to stun while channeling her Keeper’s Verdict (R).

3. Sivir

Sivir’s E allows her to avoid any form of CC, which includes Poppy’s Heroic Charge (E). This makes her ideal pick against Poppy as it is pretty safe when she is left alone. Her R allows her to speed up the entire team, providing an opportunity for her team to engage.

Best Items To Counter Poppy In Season 12

1. Penetration

Poppy is a tank, and tanks love armor and magic resistance. Her Steadfast Presence Passive (W) gives her even more of these stats, so be ready to have a slot for either magic or armor penetration item, depending on your type of damage output.

2. Items With Dash Active

Last but not least are items such as Galeforce, Hextech Rocketbelt, or Prowler’s Claw that allow you to dodge her engage or Keeper’s Verdict (R).

Conclusion

Poppy is the strong early game champion that is moderately hard to play. That does not mean she is easy to play against, but after reading our guide, we firmly believe that you found a few tips that you can use next time to counter her.

Pick a champion within our recommended counters that you are most familiar with and feel most comfortable playing with. If you did not find any of your favorite champions from our list, try to pick something that has reliable CC. Try to save it for her when she channels her  Keeper’s Verdict (R).

It’s a bird…it’s a plane, it’s Superman! I mean Aurelion Sol, the almighty dragon! Aurelion Sol is a mage with a kit that gives him the potential to be a powerful roaming champion with his Comet of Legend (E) ability and his passive Center of the Universe.

An experienced Aurelion Sol will try to utilize his Starsurge (Q) stuns in the teamfights later in the game, killing people with his stars and using his powerful Voice of Light (R) when the time is right.

Also read: Best ADCs to Pair With Shen

Aurelion Sol’s Abilities

Aurelion Sol’s kit is defined by managing his passive stars and using his Celestial Expansion (W) well. Other abilities such as Starsurge (Q) and Voice of Light (R) add CC and damage, and Comet of Legend (E) adds unorthodox mobility.

  • Passive – Center of the Universe: Stars orbit Aurelion Sol, dealing magic damage when they hit an enemy. Each Star deals magic damage to enemies that come into contact with them as well as executes enemy minions that have less than 25 health, including if they are brought to or below that threshold. The Stars orbit counterclockwise around Aurelion Sol. Aurelion Sol’s Stars have independent vision hitboxes, meaning that they may remain visible even while he is within a brush and must be in the brush themselves in order to be hidden.
  • Q – Starsurge: Aurelion Sol fires a star in the target direction that expands as long as it remains within the Outer Limit, granting him 20% bonus movement speed while active. If he moves faster than the star, the rate of the star will increase to keep up. Starsurge can be recast after 0.25 seconds while the star is active and does so automatically when the star travels beyond the Outer Limit. The star detonates, dealing magic damage to nearby enemies and stunning them for a duration. This duration is increased by 0% − 300% (based on time traveled).
  • W – Celestial Expansion: Aurelion Sol expands his Stars to the Outer Limit for 3 seconds, rotating them at a high but decaying speed and increasing their total damage by 40%. After recasting the ability, Aurelion Sol commands the stars to retract, granting him a 40% bonus movement speed that decays over 1.5 seconds.
  • E – Comet of Legend: Aurelion Sol pulls in his stars and takes flight, dashing in the target direction. While in flight, Aurelion Sol has unobstructed vision and sets his movement speed to a fixed amount. Any immobilizing crowd control will knock down Aurelion Sol during the dash. Starsurge (Q) is usable during the dash. Celestial Expansion (W) and Voice of Light (R) are not usable during the dash.
  • R – Voice of Light: Aurelion Sol exhales a wave of star fire in the target direction, granting sight of the area for 2 seconds from the start of the cast time, dealing magic damage to enemies within its path, slowing them for 2 seconds, and, if they are within the Outer Limit, stunning them for 0.125 seconds and knocking them back to it. Aurelion Sol channels over 0.3 seconds until the star fire reaches the maximum range. Voice of Light cannot be interrupted by crowd control.

Countering Aurelion Sol’s Spells

As we stated before, Aurelion Sol has to manage his stars well to maximize his potential. One of the best ways to counter Aurelion Sol is to keep a reasonable distance (or get very close to him), as his most significant damage will be with his passive combined with W.

Getting very close to him will put him in an inconvenient situation, as long as he doesn’t hit his Q as he will stun you right away.

Most Common Aurelion Sol Combos

While Aurelion Sol is not the champion that uses complicated combos, he does have a few. Q>W is an easy setup for ganks or trading in the lane. The more complicated one is W>Q>R.

Aurelion Sol casts Q, then R then recasts his Q to stun enemies and continues hitting them with his W. Since his R is an AOE knockback, he can hit multiple targets with this and can help turn teamfights in his favor.

Aurelion Sol’s Weaknesses

1. CC

CC is always good to have. His stars disappear while stunned or silenced, giving you an easy opportunity to fight him with lights out. If you can lock him down with CC, it will be difficult for him to adjust his positioning for his Stars.

Additionally, as he is a poke champion, locking him down with CC as quickly as you can make it harder for him to dish out damage in the team fight.

2. Vision

He likes to roam, so spotting him before he appears suddenly in your back is needed. Wards and good communication are critical against Aurelion Sol. Make sure you have the river warded at all times and ping if he goes missing. Don’t be afraid to write in chat that he is missing too.

3. Clearing

Try to put him under the tower, pick a champion that has a strong push, so if he decides to roam, he loses waves. This might be harder than usual because Aurelion Sol wants to push you under your tower and use his E to roam to other lanes.

4. Early game

Aurelion Sol can be burst down quickly before he has many items. If you’re looking for kills, the early game is the ideal time. After he gets to level 6, try to stay spread with your teammates as his R and Q could CC lock your entire team. His Starsurge (Q) ability can grow to cover a large area.

The Best Aurelion Sol Lane Counters In Season 12

1. Talon

Talon is hard to learn and has excellent mobility. With the gold difference of +650 gold at the 15th-minute mark, Talon is the champion that is an ideal pick against Aurelion Sol. Talon has the highest amount of first bloods in the game, which takes advantage of Aurelion Sol’s weak early game. Talon’s early kill pressure is crazy.

2. Diana

Diana is an easy to learn champion, has few skill shots, and might provide excellent assassination potential with her damage. With the gold difference of +770 gold at the 15th-minute mark, Diana is the champion that is an ideal pick against Aurelion Sol.

Diana has a solid push with her Pale Cascade (W). Diana is dependent on landing her Crescent Strike (Q) for the all-in. If Aurelion Sol used his Q recently, it is a good idea to follow your Q with Moonfall (R) to punish him.

Honorable Mention: Lissandra

Lissandra is very easy to learn as well, has a few skill shots, and offers some CC. With the gold difference of +220 gold at the 15th-minute mark, Lissandra is relatively reasonable to pick against Aureliuon Sol.

Lissandra can use her Ice Shard (Q) and Glacial Path (E) to push the wave. She has good CC with her Ring of Frost (W) and Frozen Tomb (R) as she needs to get close to Aurelion Sol to hit her W, which is not ideal for Aurelion Sol.

The Best Champions To Counter Aurelion Sol In Season 12

1. Sett

Sett has a lot of physical damage early and will win most auto-attack trades. His Facebreaker (E) allows him to pull Aurelion Sol closer. After level 6, Sett’s ultimate The Show Stopper (R) will be used to engage or even dive the backline where Aurelion Sol is most of the time flying around looking for opportunities to pick up kills.

2. Ekko

Ekko will look to set up a Parallel Convergence (W) stun by walking out of vision. His Phase Dive (E) allows him to dodge or close the gap necessary to get to Aurelion Sol and CC him. His all-in potential with Ultimate Chronobreak (R) is excellent, and he can even use it to escape after a kill.

3. Twitch

He can use his Ambush (Q) to scout around and set a vision for his team. Besides that, his Venom Cask (W) allows for some crowd control set-up for his team, which they can follow up on.

His Ultimate Spray and Pray (R) will enable him to shred through the enemy team further away with ease as it increases his range. All this gives him a powerful advantage over Aurelion Sol.

Best Items To Counter Aurelion Sol In Season 12

1. Banshee’s Veil

Banshee’s Veil is a strong item against magic damage but is most valued for its ability to prevent crowd control or counter poke damage. As such, it is highly recommended to build Banshee’s Veil when you are being focused by crowd control effects. This item provides everything that you need to combat Aurelion Sol efficiently.

2. Quicksilver Sash

It removes all crowd control debuffs (except Airborne) from your champion. It also gives magic resistance – another fantastic item to counter Aurelion Sol’s magic damage and CC.

3. Mikael’s Blessing

Mikael’s Blessing removes all crowd control debuffs from yourself or an allied champion and heals the target for 100 − 200 (based on the target’s level). It gives magic resistance and other stats such as ability haste, base mana regeneration, and more potent heal and shield power.

Supports with good reflexes will use this item to save your squishies from CC that Aurelion Sol can unleash on them.

4. Items With Dash Active

Last but not least are items such as Galeforce, Hextech Rocketbelt, or Prowler’s Claw that allow you to dodge Aurelion Sol’s Q or even R.

Also read: Best ADCs to Pair With Pyke

Conclusion

Aurelion Sol is weaker in the early game, although that does not mean he is to be underestimated. He has severe damage later, and he has solid mobility through the early to late game. After reading our guide, we firmly believe that you found a few tips that you can use next time to counter him.

Pick a champion within our recommended counters that you are most familiar with and feel most comfortable playing with. If you did not find any of your favorite champions from our list, try to pick something that has reliable CC and can compete with his pushing power in the lane.

If he used his Q or R, he is very vulnerable to ganks. His only way to escape will be his E, but this can be stopped with well-timed CC.
