Ever since Wild Rift has been released in 2020, people have been wondering if the game is dying. This has been an ongoing trend with its PC predecessor League of Legends. The underpinning reason for this often-asked question is hard to establish, but the question still stands. Is Wild Rift Dying?

Is Wild Rift Dying? Is Wild Rift Dying?

As the title implies, it is highly unlikely for this mobile game to die. The reason for this is that Wild Rift was a major success in China. Even before the release, the game had over 10 million players pre registered, and ready to board the ship.

Furthermore, there are reports which show that the game generated over $100 million of revenue in October 2021 alone. This was a 170% increase from September. Although these figures are a little outdated, they are still more than reliable to judge the monetary health.

The concept of the game is validated in the eyes of the company, and they have no reason to pull the plug on the game, anywhere in the near future. If anything were to happen, they could just cut the costs on development, and run fewer updates. They would still stay green while having the game playable.

Additionally, the number of updates and cosmetics that the game has been receiving consistently is also a great sign. It shows Riot’s commitment to the game and leaves us with no place to worry about the health of the game.

Conclusion

Wild Rift is certainly not going to die, and it is hard to imagine a scenario in which the game will not receive consistent updates for a long time. The game development costs are covered by the Chinese player base, which equals 93% of all players.

In the worst-case scenario, we will see a falling number of players across Europe and North America. This will result in higher wait times for the games, as there are fewer players for games to be arranged. It also might come with lower-quality games.

League of Legends is a game in which skill is dictated by many factors, this is great because doing just about anything will have you improve at the game. However, some things will allow you to improve faster than other things.

By analyzing trends of the highest-ranked players, I have found that, initially, most of them got their success by learning from already established players that came before them. This made me pursue the same path on my ranked journey and helped me climb through the ranks consistently.

Other than listing all the streamers, I will also help you understand how to get the most value out of watching educational streamers. I have no doubt that it will help you shortcut your ranked journey!

Best Educational Jungle Streamers and YouTubers

1. Nathan Mott1. Nathan Mott

When it comes to learning anything in League of Legends the most important thing is knowing the so-called “fundamentals.’ The fundamentals are the core rules of the game, which you will practice endlessly through your climb. These are especially important for playing the Jungle, and Nathan Mott is the best source for learning them.

On his YouTube channel, Nathan features a huge library of videos explaining every rule of the jungle in bite-sized videos. Going over these videos and practicing the concepts within them will make you a killer jungler extremely fast.

Additionally, Nathan has recently started uploading long-form videos, and each video focuses on studying a single champ extensively. The videos often feature elite players for the given champ, and their expert findings from thousands of games.

To sum it up, if I were limited to watching only 1 educational jungle streamer it would be Natan Mott. He starts teaching from the bottom and up, making it easy for every viewer to become a well-rounded player.

2. Virkayu2. Virkayu

Virkayu is an astrophysics graduate, qualified teacher, bodybuilder, and most importantly, a Master tier League of Legends player.  Much like Nathan Mott, he creates videos around all Jungle-related topics.

His videos are mostly centered around helping lower-high ranked players, while Nathan focuses more on APEX tiers. It is not to say that high ELO players have nothing to learn from Virkayu.

When it comes to his channel, you can expect 3 things. Highest production quality, consistent uploads, and engaging content. He will teach you the latest strongest picks, how to play them, and how to play against them if you happen to face them in a duel!

3. Phylaris3. Phylaris

Phylaris is a huge legend in the League of Legends community. He has made a name for himself by publishing videos featuring the fastest clears for specific champions.

Back in the day, the jungle was a little more sophisticated, and to get the most advantage, you would need to clear it efficiently. Since the jungle got simplified, we lost this kind of skill expression, and the main point of his channel has lost a lot of relevance. Luckily he still found a way to stay relevant by posting high-quality content!

The content in question is elite gameplay analysis. In his latest video, he dissected the gameplay of the rank 1 Master Yi player in the EUW. This is amazing as it allows us to actually understand the minds of the most talented players, and implement their strategies to our own gameplay.

4. Broxah4. Broxah

Regarding skill, Broxah is a player that would definitely top this list. He is a professional League of Legends player that is currently focused on streaming. The thing he is best known for is his chill and mellow personality.

Broxah is the streamer I recommend for people who want to enjoy quality gameplay, with no toxicity, and still learn about the game. He might not focus on the educational content as much as others, but he for sure is fun to watch!

5. Kingstix5. Kingstix

Kingstix is a highly-ranked player who is known for his frequent trips down the ranks. He visits the lower-ranked players and teaches you how to play by beating them. Some people are against this approach, but no one can claim it is ineffective.

What makes his channel great is how beginner-friendly it is. He will play every jungle champion under the sun, and provide consistent uploads. This makes it easy for anyone to search the huge library of content and learn their target champion.

Kingstix will also teach you all the most fun builds. If there is a new hot playstyle, you will be among the first ones to know if you follow his channel.

Author’s Take

All these guys are great, but my personal go-to is Nathan Mott. He is the person who has initially helped me grow from a D4 player to a Master one, in a really brief period of time. To this day, he is still my favorite source of League of Legends jungle fundamentals.

Conclusion

If I were to single out one approach for League of Legends and call it the best, it would be learning from other players. This approach helps us avoid making silly mistakes and shortens the learning curve by giving us the knowledge of players who have already figured out the game.

If this sounds appealing to you, all that’s left for you to do is find the best players to follow according to your bracket. For lower-ranked players, I would recommend definitely recommend Kingstix. He can guide you all the way to plat!

If you happen to be one of the higher-ranked players, you can start tuning in to Broxah streams. To perfect your gameplay though, you will certainly find Nathan Motts’s advice useful.

Finally, there are Phylaris and Virkayu. Phylaris will grant you the knowledge of the most elite players in the world, while Virkayu will give you nicely packaged information that is easy to digest.

As the game gets more mature, it naturally gets more standardized. People discover the most optimized strategies, and they start honing on them. This can make the game feel boring for many players.

Luckily, there is a way to combat this staleness, and the best way to do it is to utilize some cheese strats. These strategies are often high-risk, high-reward, and incredibly satisfying to play.

In this article, you will learn about these best cheese starts in League of Legends, and how they will improve your gameplay:

  1. Invading
  2. Funneling (and best funneling champions)
  3. Cheesy jungle picks
  4. Proxy farming
  5. Fake recalling
  6. Roaming as support

1. Invading

Invading is probably the most common cheese strategy. It entails entering the enemy territory, in order to score an advantage by getting a kill, disabling the enemy, or stealing their jungle property.

Early Game InvadingEarly Game Invading

Invading is usually done in the early game, but it can be done in any phase of the game. When it comes to early invading, it is best done with all teammates present. This minimizes the risk of getting killed and increases the chances of killing an enemy.

If you plan to utilize invading, it is always best to arrange it in the champion select. This way your teammates will know what’s up as soon as the game loads. As a result, your chances of scoring an early lead will significantly increase.

For example, in the cases where you get first blood, you will have a statistical advantage of 10%. The game win probability goes up from 50% to 60%. Definitely, not a bad deal.

Late-Mid Game InvadingLate-Mid Game Invading

Invading in the later stages of the game is a skill in itself, and boy does it pay well. Becoming great at invading will help you breeze through the ranks, and it will help you become a much more well-rounded player.

Jungle Tracking

Depending on what you play, there will be different variables dictating how to invade, but there is one consistent across all roles, jungle tracking. Jungle tracking revolves around tracking the enemy jungler, and understanding their positioning on the map across time.

When you know where they are, it makes it easy to catch them off guard, and get some lead. The first skill you should add to your tracking stack is noticing where the enemy starts, this can be done easily by checking which players come to their lanes later.

The ones that come later are the ones that gave leash, and this makes it pretty clear where the enemy has started. Another thing you can pay attention to is the laner’s HP and mana bar, if they seem even a little spent, it means they have spent it on helping their jungler.

From here you can be confident that most junglers will path their way towards the opposite side, while full clearing their jungle. This means that you will be able to approximate their position at all times

Another thing that will help you track the enemy jungle is keeping the track of their CS (creep-score). Since each jungle camp gives 4 CS, it is not hard to deduce which camps they killed based on the CS.

Matchup Knowledge

Other than getting good at tracking, you will also need a good matchup knowledge to pull off this cheesy strategy. You have to be able to predict the outcome of the fight, this means knowing how strong your champion is, and how strong the enemy champion is.

Additionally, you will need to expand this calculation to your laners and the opposing laners. When you put all these things together, you will become great at invading, and you can expect a significant improvement in rank as a result.

2. Funneling

Coming in hot with another cheesing strategy. This is hands down the cheesiest strategy you might encounter in League of Legends, and probably any other game for that matter.

Funneling is a strat that revolves around funneling most (ideally all) gold to one designated carry. The carry is usually a hyper-scaling champion that has the ability to run through entire teams solo.

Funneling creates such a high discrepancy between the carry champion, and everyone on the map, which makes it really hard for the opposing teams to deal with it, especially if they are not extremely coordinated.

The cheesy strat is generally frowned upon in the League of Legends community, as it completely changes the way the game is played, and it is not fun for either team playing for reasons I will explain.

Yi and Taric FunnelingYi and Taric Funneling

The most popular funnel involves Yi and Taric. This combination has Taric going midlane, usually with smite, and Yi going jungle. The Yi will then proceed to fast-full-clear his jungle, while also dropping by midlane to collect some lane CS from time to time.

As you might imagine, all the gold and experience makes Yi scale extremely fast. After a while, the two can start taking every objective and roaming the map, killing everyone in sight.

What is frustrating for other players is that they are all forced to adapt to this cheesy strat. The enemies have to focus on shutting down Yi, and preventing his snowball. Which is really hard to do, while allies all have to play around Yi, and without Yi.

Since Yi will spend all the time focused on himself, the allies will be left vulnerable to ganks and other pressures from the enemy team. More often than not, this will result in much toxicity, and sometimes, games get trolled.

Should you play funnel?

If you are considering funnel, there are two things to consider. The first thing to consider is viability. Riot has made many changes to the jungle in season 13, and some have made this strategy significantly weaker.

For example, the lane minions give less XP to junglers, which makes it harder to level up, and subsequently decreases the chance of snowball. Also, the current meta favors ganking over farming much more. Anyhow, if you get good at funneling, the playstyle can still be viable.

The second thing to consider is the mental aspect. You will often be flamed, and you will probably decrease the game enjoyment for all the other players in the lobby. If this is something you do not mind, you will have no trouble playing funnel.

3. Cheesy Jungle Picks

There is a set of junglers that are meta in every given season, and most players get used to playing against them. This makes the champions much weaker, as the players get trained to exploit their weaknesses.

A good way to counter this is picking some cheesy champs, this will leave the enemies in the dark, not knowing what to expect, while you will be there knowing all ins and outs of the champion you are playing.

Here are my top cheesy jungle picks:

1. Nasus Jungle1. Nasus Jungle

Nasus jungle is the highest quality off-meta cheesy pick. Playing him in the jungle allows you to stack much faster than you would playing him traditionally, and this will allow you to surprise the enemies, and hard-snowball the game.

Clear and Build

The playstyle for this pick is quite simple. All that you are required to do is stack the jungle camps. To do this efficiently, I would recommend starting at the Red Buff. Since the Red Buff gives healing, it is great for making you clear with healthy HP.

As soon as you are done with the Red Buff, you can go on stacking the other camps. Starting with Krugs, and then going for Raptors, all the way to Gromp on the opposite side of the map.

When it comes to items, you should aim to strike a good balance between CDR and tankiness. The CDR, will help you proc the Q more often, which will allow you to get more damage off, and the tankiness will allow you to survive longer.

It is important to note that building damage is not really significant. It is truly a noob trap. The damage items are just a drop in a bucket compared to the damage you will get from your Q, and you would be trading survivability for essentially nothing by building them.

Gameplay

The gameplay for Nasus jungle is nothing advanced. The thing you will want to focus on is getting stacks, and after some 10 or 15 minutes, you can start seizing the game. The easiest way to do this is by farming towers and objectives.

Whenever your team is grouped on one side, you can make your way to a distant location where you can spend some time alone with a tower. When you ult, you will be able to take the tower within seconds.

The same can be done with objectives too. Nasus jungle is extremely good at killing objectives quickly, due to the sheer power of a well-stacked Q.

When it comes to the later stages of the game, you will simply want to focus on the enemy carries. Using W on squishy targets will make it easy to pass all the enemies, and run down the opposing backline.

2. Twitch Jungle2. Twitch Jungle

Twitch jungle is another noteworthy jungle pick. It has been around for a while, but now is the perfect time to play it. The jungle changes have made the ganking playstyle more favorable, and since Twitch jungle is a ganking champion, it’s clear how it makes him a decent pick.

As Twitch jungle, you might struggle clearing the camps in the early game, and that is okay. Because on the flip side, you will be able to perform ganks as soon as you hit lvl 2. My favorite thing to do as Twitch jungle is to clear the red buff, and then gank midlane or toplane, depending on which lane is pushed further by enemies.

To make the ganks easier, I recommend running Press the Attack, this keystone enhances the damage you will do after auto-attacking an enemy 3 times. It is perfect to use alongside E to execute enemies early.

If you want to learn about 10 more off-meta junglers, I recommend reading this article.

4. Proxy Farming4. Proxy Farming

Proxy farming is definitely one of the cheese strategies that you should know. It entails farming the enemy minions, between the enemy towers. This means that the minions will never reach the lane, and they will not be able to protect the enemy tower.

Additionally, proxy farming forces the opposing laner to fight minions under their tower, which can result in losing some CS gold. This strategy is mostly done in the toplane, but it can be done in botlane from time to time.

Proxy farming is a strategy that can be countered by ally support. With correct timing, the team playing against proxy can take down the champion that is proxying by grouping against them. Since most champions that are good at proxying have many escapes, trying to catch them will often result in a waste of time.

The champions that are most popular for proxying are the following Singed and Tryndamere. Both have kits that allow them to clear the waves at extraordinary speeds, as well as many escape tools.

Here is a good article to learn more about proxying.

5. Fake Recalling5. Fake Recalling

Fake recalling is a small cheese strategy that you can use in many games. Its aim is to trick the enemy into thinking that you have recalled, while you are still in lane. The most cheesy way to do it is by recalling on the edge of a bush, while the vision is still on you, once the recall timer is down to 0.2 seconds then you can simply walk into the bush, this will create an illusion of recalling.

I have found that this trick works around 90% of the time. The enemy will think that I have recalled, and I will be able to do a surprise play. To make this strategy work, however, you will also need to know your champion limits well. If you try to surprise an enemy when you are weaker, you might end up being the surprised one, in case the play fails.

6. Roaming as Support6. Roaming as Support

Roaming as support is a really effective strategy. In the past, it was really cheesy, as it was not utilized by many players, but as time went on, more and more players started using it. Despite being meta now, it is still fair to call this a cheese strat.

Roaming as support is much like roaming in any other role, but there are some upsides that make it a little more viable and sneaky. As a roaming support, you are not under a huge threat of losing resources. Your ADC will soak up the extra XP, and the loss will be much less than that of a roaming mid laner or top laner.

It’s not all sunshine and rainbows though, as roaming at bad times can leave your ADC vulnerable to dying. This can backfire pretty badly, and it can cost you a game pretty quickly. Things get even worse if you happen to be matched with a short-fused ADC.

Anyhow, roaming is a great strategy that every support player should have in their skillset. It can net really positive results, and when fully mastered, it delivers insane returns in the SoloQue environment.

Conclusion

Cheese strats are the best way to have fun in League of Legends, gain leads, and tilt your enemies. Which strategy you will want to employ in your game depends on what you want to get out of the game. To get the most lead, you can consistently invade, or play something like Yi/Taric funnel, and if you just want to have fun, you can go for exotic picks like Nasus and Twitch jungle.

First Strike is one of the best runes for burst champions to generate leads and carry games with. The base amount of gold it gives is 5, and it does give additional gold based on the damage dealt to an enemy.

This article will guide you through everything you need to know about this rune page, and that will help you make the most out of it in the game.

We will cover:

  1. How to calculate how much gold the first strike gives?
  2. How to get the most amount of gold with the first strike.
  3. Best rune page for the first strike.
  4. List of champions that can run the first strike rune.

How Much Gold Does First Strike Give? (How to Calculate)How Much Gold Does First Strike Give? (How to Calculate)

As already said, the base amount of gold the first strike will give is 5 gold. Additional gold you will be receiving gets calculated by the amount of damage you have done within 3 seconds of attacking the enemy champion.

These 3 seconds are a window in which you will deal 9% extra true damage, the final amount of damage within this frame will be converted to gold within a 1/1 ratio. To spare you thinking, this usually equals 20-50 gold in the early game, 60-130 gold in the mid-game, and around 150+ gold in the late game.

It is important to note that this keystone has a 20 seconds cooldown, so it would be wise to keep track of its availability in order to time combos properly and get the most amount of gold.

How To Get the Most Amount of Gold Using First StrikeHow To Get the Most Amount of Gold Using First Strike

The last section has ended with a small tip, but there are a few other tips that require a section of their own. These are some small gameplay tweaks you can implement, in order to squeeze the most out of this rune.

The first thing I always like to do in the early game is to poke the enemies before minions spawn, this can be done with most ranged picks, and it gives a nice little gold boost. If you are playing something like Xerath, you will also get a stack of runes such as manaflow band.

Now, the other thing I do to optimize my gains is look for burst opportunities. Since there is a 3-second window that calculates the amount of gold you will get based on your damage, I try to do as much damage as possible.

So for example, if you are playing Zed with the first strike, and you have the keystone up, you should not waste it on landing 1 Q. Instead, it is always better to wait for the opportunity to land a full combo. This means waiting out for spells to return off cooldown, and similar factors.

Best Rune Page For First Strike

There are plenty of setups that can be run with the first strike, and the ideal choice will depend on the situation. This is not to say that there is no setup that will run well most of the time and that you can use without worrying too much.

Here is the rune page in question:Best Rune Page For First Strike

  1. First Strike
  2. Magical Footwear
  3. Biscuit Delivery
  4. Cosmic Insight
  5. Sudden Impact
  6. Treasure Hunter
  7. X2 Adaptive Force + Health

Notes

This is the first strike rune page you can run on every champion without touching anything. I would however like to share a couple of tips so you can tweak it a little depending on what you play.

  1. Magical Footwear can be exchanged for Stopwatch in matchups where the latter is more beneficial.
  2. Sudden Impact can be exchanged for Cheap Shot if you are playing champions with CC.
  3. I take Treasure Hunter to generate most gold, but if the champion I play is ultimate-reliant, I opt for Ultimate Hunter, since the rune provides cooldown reduction on R.
  4. I would advise swapping out the HP mini rune with AD or AP resistance, depending on your lane matchup.

Champions That Can Run First StrikeChampions That Can Run First Strike

Every champion that has the ability to output a great amount of damage within 3 seconds timeframe is a great candidate for the first strike. As you can imagine, this makes the list of champions that can run the first strike quite extensive.

If you are interested in the list of strongest champions for the first strike, as well as some extra guidance, I recommend reading this article written by yours truly.

If you are only looking for inspiration though, here is a list of all champions that can run the first strike with varying degrees of success:

  1. Zed
  2. Lux
  3. Evelynn
  4. Gangplank
  5. Kha’Zix
  6. Garen (Played Full-Crit)
  7. Annie
  8. Akali
  9. Ammumu (Full AP)
  10. Dianna
  11. Ezreal
  12. Ekko
  13. Fizz
  14. Gragas (Full AP)
  15. Graves (Damage Build)
  16. Jarvan (Damage Build)
  17. Karthus
  18. Kayn (Assassin Form)
  19. Kennen
  20. Morgana (Full AP)
  21. Nidalee
  22. Orianna
  23. Renekton
  24. Rengar
  25. Shaco
  26. Talon
  27. Veigar

You can pretty much see the pattern, all these champions have the ability to deal a lot of damage quickly. These champions can all viably run the first strike, but you should definitely consider other rune options too. Very few champions have the first strike as their go-to rune.

Conclusion

The first strike is a great rune for enhancing damage, and generating extra gold. It should be taken on champions that have burst damage, and it should be taken where you are confident about your snowball and carry skills.

The amount of gold the first strike gives is relative. It gives 5 gold + bonus gold depending on the amount of damage you have done within 3 seconds. This usually translates to around 50 gold in the early game, 100 gold in the mid-game, and around 200 gold in the late game.

Ever since it was introduced in season 12, the First Strike has remained one of the most fun runes to play with. It is perfect for those who enjoy aggressive gameplay, snowballing, and solo carrying the games.

This rune can work on plenty of champions, but not all will see the same results. This is why I compiled a list of the top 8 first-strike champions in League of Legends.

You will see assassins, AP and AD champions, mages, and everything in between. I did my best to have as much diversity, so all the players with different playstyles could draw some inspiration.

8. Kha’Zix8. Kha’Zix

Kha’Zix might be one of the best users of the First Strike. He can start cashing it in early on, and it synergizes well with his burst playstyle.

When I play Kha’Zix, I pick this rune almost all the time, especially in those times when I plan on invading. The plan is usually to clear three camps and then invade the enemy jungler.

Kha’Zix is really strong at early fights, and this rune only makes him better. It gives extra damage but, most importantly, extra gold. This allows me to have a much higher impact early on and paves the road for a fruitful mid and late-game.

7. Evelynn7. Evelynn

Evelynn is much different than Kha, at least in the early game. As Evelynn, you will mostly want to spend your time clearing camps and avoiding dying to enemy invades. As the game goes on, however, Evelynn gains much strength. When everything is done correctly, she becomes one of the strongest one-shot champions in the game. This is exactly why the First Strike is great on her.

As you gain more damage, you will gain more gold through the First Strike’s passive. So essentially, I would recommend this rune for those who like to play it safe early and blast through the midgame.

6. Xerath6. Xerath

Another champion that I found works well with the First Strike is Xerath. There is not much science to this, as the only thing you need to do in lane is sit back and hit enemies.

Now, for the aspiring Xerath players, I would recommend 1 thing, and that is to practice the skill shots. It might sound obvious, but this is the core thing about this champion. Failing to land skill shots is extremely self-punishing, especially when running the First Strike.

I would also urge Xerath players to consider Arcane Comet. Unlike First Strike, it does not give gold when hitting enemies, but it does give them a good beating that puts them closer to death. And that will generate more gold on average.

5. Ezreal5. Ezreal

Ezreal is a champion that I do not understand. Not in terms of mechanics or anything, but in terms of versatility. This champion can be played as a tank, it can be played AP and AD, and he can run almost any rune successfully. How is that fair?

Now, despite everything working on him, there are some things that just stand out. The First Strike is a prime example. The rune works so well on this champion because he can dish out so much damage with his combos.

My favorite First-Strike Ezreal combo is W, Q, E. When done in rapid succession, it will shave off the HP bar away from enemies and grant significant gold.

I also like to play AP First Strike Ezreal. This is not something that is truly viable, but it is one of the most fun playstyles in League. There are quite a few things that can compare to Ezreal deleting 90% of the enemy HP bar in less than 1 second.

4. Garen4. Garen

I know what you are thinking about. Garen with the First Strike sounds ridiculous, and it kinda is, but it is definitely something worth familiarizing yourself with.

This playstyle works by combining the rune and critical strike. The more critical strike you get, the more damage output you will have. Since this itemization makes Garen squishy, there are some additional tips you will need to pull this off. For example, the main way to trade playing Garen like this is by sitting in bushes. Coming in and out every once in a while to damage the enemy. This stealth combo should be used in the late game too. You should wait for carries in unwarded bushes, and one-shot them with the Q+E+R combo.

The crucial component to making this work is Galeforce. Alongside flash, it will be good enough to gap close every enemy champion. Once you get in their face and silence them by pressing Q, they are as good as dead.

All in all, this is a highly controversial way to play Garen, but it is enjoyable nonetheless. The highest I have seen someone get with this build is Grandmaster, but since most of us are lower-ranked plebs, I think we can not criticize the pick.

3. Talon3. Talon

Talon is a champion that has one of the highest bursts in the game, and I do not think anyone is surprised to see him on this list. The theory behind making him work with the First Strike is quite simple. Just do your regular combos the way you would do them anyway, and the rune will do its thing.

Now should you pick this rune? I guess it depends. When playing midlane I like to go for electrocute as it provides more consistent damage. When playing jungle, I just spam the First Strike all the time.

The First Strike on Jungle Talon is simply the best thing. It gives extra gold for every gank where you manage to touch the enemy. And it also rewards invading. Since Talon is an aggressive champion that spends a lot of teamfighting, there is no reason not to take this rune if you are jungling with Talon.

2. Kayn2. Kayn

I can not speak for the other players, but I can speak for myself. The First Strike for Kayn is amazing. This is the rune I pick up all the time with Kayn, and it generates 2-3k gold on average throughout a game. This is insanity, as 2k gold is equivalent to 5.5 kills. It is such a great snowball rune.

Now, I have to admit I only play blue Kayn, and I do not know if the rune would have as much of a strong effect on the red one, but I wouldn’t assume its significantly worse.

1. Lux1. Lux

Lux is a champion that can benefit massively from the First Strike. This is mostly due to the burst potential she can achieve by landing good combos.

When it comes to choosing this rune on her, she is much like Xerath. The rune will work fine but there are viable alternatives like arcane comet.

Unlike Xerath, though, her combos hit somewhat harder. This means that she can proc more damage by using First Strike.

Conclusion

The First Strike is a great rune for champions that have a lot of burst in their kits. This is why you will see it most often on assassins and one-shotting mages. If you are looking for ideas, I would definitely recommend champions from this list, as they are the ones that synergize with the rune the most, but I would also encourage you to try new picks yourself.

Raid boss champions are some of the most fun champions you can play in League of Legends. They generally have insane amounts of sustain and damage–with kits that are extremely hard to deal with.

I created a list of the top 1v5 raid boss champions in LoL. These are the champions I often played as or against on many of my climbs to the Master rank. There is no doubt in my mind that you will find a champion that clicks with you.

1. Nasus

When thinking about raid boss champions, the first thing that naturally comes to mind is Nasus. This is a champion that fits all the criteria perfectly. He has plenty of damage, he is extremely hard to kill with his ultimate up, and he has a kit that will annoy even the sanest players.

As many of you probably know, the selling point to Nasus is his Q. This ability is an auto-attack reset that gains power each time you last hit a target with it. This ability is most commonly used on minions, but it gives the most benefit when killing a structure or a champion.

Nasus’s Q also gives a great number of stacks when killing neutral monsters, such as jungle camps. This gave birth to jungle Nasus, an extremely fun way to play champion. I would recommend this playstyle to anyone who enjoys off-meta jungle picks.

What makes Nasus work well is his W. It is a spell that will slow enemies all the way from 35% to 95%, depending on the level. This makes up for Nasuse’s lack of mobility, as it makes the enemies immobile themselves.

Nasus’s ult is a thing that ties everything together. The ult gives him additional HP, size, and a reduction in Q cooldown. When up, it is one of the best tools in his kit. It allows him to fight even the hardest of battles, making him one of the top 1v5 raid boss champions in LoL.

2. Darius

Best 1v5 Raid boss Champion Darius in League of LegendsAnother very notable raid boss champion is Darius, and I do not think this comes as a surprise to anyone. Darius is a bruiser with plenty of HP, healing, and insane true damage output.

Much like Nasus, Darius has one defining feature that has his whole kit revolving around it. This is his passive hemorrhage. Hemorrhage applies one stack per hit, and it stacks up to five times.

Each stack of hemorrhage increases the damage dealt to enemies, and at the 5th stack, it marks the enemy, dealing true damage, and making them more vulnerable to Darius’s R. The 5th stack also enrages Darius, making him able to apply full stacks on the next enemy with only one kit.

Essentially, you will always want to play with the passive on your mind. Each time you manage to get 5 stacks on the enemy, it is almost guaranteed that you will win the fight. If you manage to do it in a teamfight, you will pretty much be able to carry 1v5.

3. Vladimir

Best 1v5 Raid boss Champion Vladimir in League of LegendsDo not worry. I have not forgotten about AP raid boss champions, but I had to honor the kings first. That said, Vladimir too deserves a special place on this list, as he is one of the strongest solo carries in the game.

This champion is unique in the sense that it follows a non-traditional scaling path. If you choose to play him, you will need to have a lot of patience and a monk mindset to protect you from your team’s flame.

As Vladimir, you will want to focus on yourself only. This is something that can not be overstated. This champion has such good scaling that even the slightest amount of gold matters.

In more practical terms, you will want to farm well, and you will not want to die. As the game goes on, you will be more and more powerful, and in the late game, you will be able to comfortably delete the whole enemy team in a few clicks.

4. Aatrox

Best 1v5 Raid boss Champion Aatrox in League of LegendsIn lore, Aatrox is described as a fallen god-warrior who once threatened to destroy Runterra. I think Riot has done a good job adapting him to summoner’s rift, where he is able to single handedly destroy all kinds of enemy compositions.

Unlike the aforementioned champions, Aatrox is much harder to play. He requires players to understand many combos before he can be pulled off successfully. Thankfully, learning him pays off, as he is one of the strongest raid boss champions in LoL.

His power lies in a combination of advanced mechanics and insane healing power. Once a player learns all his combos, he can dictate every lane, and by doing that, they can gain enough advantage to 1v5 any game.

The most fun part about Aatrox is his teamfighting. He simply holds too much strength, and he can run over enemies with ease. The amount of healing he has is substantial, especially when running Goredrinker. This makes him really hard to play against, and it catches many enemies off guard.

5. Illaoi

Best 1v5 Raid boss Champion Illaoi in League of LegendsLike all the other raid boss champions in LoL, Illaoi too features an interesting and unique playstyle. She is an AD champion, but playing her feels like playing a mage.

This champion is extremely powerful, especially against lower-ranked opponents. The key to outplaying Illaoi is to dodge her spells, but that is really hard to do versus a seasoned Illaoi player.

Playing Illaoi is not especially hard. Anyone can do well, provided they land skillshots well. Her Q is great for poking enemies walking up to CS, but her most important ability is E.

The E quite literally pulls out enemy souls and allows Illaoi to smack the hell out of it. It creates a range that limits the enemy’s movement, and if the enemy escapes it, it triggers three consecutive tentacles to attack them.

Illaoi R is one of the most powerful ones in the game, and it cements her identity as a raid boss. The more enemies this spell hits, the more damage it will do. If you ever witnessed this in a game, you definitely know how hard it hits.

Conclusion

Raid boss champions are some of the most unique ones in the game. Each of them has special features that make them stand out from all the rest of the champions. For those looking for something straightforward and relatively easy, I would recommend Nasus and Darius.

For those who like more advanced picks, which have better returns once you invest some time, I would recommend Aatrox and Illaoi. Finally, there is also Vladimir. He is great for people who enjoy or prefer playing AP champions.
